“Then God remembered Rachel…”
One of the most common expressions we hear is, “I’m sorry… I forgot.”
Sometimes we forget birthdays. Sometimes we forget appointments. Sometimes we forget promises. And often, we forget because something else occupied our attention.
As human beings, we are limited. We cannot remember everything. But there is One who never forgets. Our God.
Today’s message is for everyone who has ever wondered, “Has God forgotten me?” The answer of Scripture is clear.
God remembers.
What Does “God Remembered” Mean?
Several times in Genesis we read the words, “God remembered…” He remembered Noah. He remembered Abraham. He remembered Rachel.
Does that mean God had forgotten them?Certainly not. The God who knows the number of hairs on our heads does not suffer from forgetfulness. When the Bible says God remembered, it means He acted according to His covenant and His perfect timing. His promises moved from waiting…To fulfillment.
God Remembered Noah
For months, Noah and his family remained inside the ark.The floodwaters covered the earth.There must have been moments of uncertainty. But then Scripture says,”God remembered Noah. “The winds blew. The waters began to recede.The door to a new beginning slowly opened. What seemed like silence was not abandonment. God was working.
God Remembered Abraham
When judgment came upon Sodom, Lot was spared. Why? Genesis says,”God remembered Abraham.” God honored His covenant relationship.The prayers of the righteous matter to God. His faithfulness extends beyond what we can see.
God Remembered Rachel
Rachel longed for a child.Year after year she waited.Then the Bible says,”God remembered Rachel.” In His appointed time, her sorrow gave way to joy.The waiting was real. But so was God’s faithfulness.
God’s Timing Is Not Forgetfulness
Sometimes we confuse delay with neglect. We pray. We wait. Nothing seems to happen. Then we begin to wonder, “Has God forgotten me?”
The answer is no. His calendar is different from ours. His silence is not His absence. His delay is not His forgetfulness. He is working even when we cannot yet see His hand.
As God’s People, We Should Also Remember
If we are becoming more like Christ, we should become people who remember.
Remember kindness.
Remember promises.
Remember gratitude.
Remember those who helped us.
Remember God’s faithfulness in yesterday’s trials.
One reason Israel repeatedly drifted away from God was because they forgot what He had done for them. A grateful heart remembers.
Practical Christian Response
When you feel forgotten:
Remember God’s past faithfulness.
Continue praying.
Continue obeying.
Keep trusting His promises.
Thank Him before the answer arrives.
And in your own life:
Remember your commitments.
Remember those who have shown you kindness.
Remember to encourage others.
Remember that every act of love reflects the character of Christ.
Reflection
Perhaps today you feel like Noah…Waiting. Or like Rachel…Longing. Or like Abraham…Holding on to God’s promise. Take courage.The God who remembered them…Has not forgotten you. He knows your name. He knows your tears. He knows your prayers. And He knows exactly when to act.

“Can a woman forget her nursing child… Yet I will not forget you. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands.” (Isaiah 49:15–16)
What an extraordinary promise. Human beings may forget. God never does.
Closing Thought
The world forgets. People forget. Friends sometimes forget. Even we forget. But our God never forgets His children.
Every promise He has made…Every prayer you have offered…Every tear you have shed…Every act of faithful obedience…He remembers. So if you are walking through a season of waiting, do not lose heart.The God who remembered Noah…The God who remembered Abraham…The God who remembered Rachel…Is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
When His perfect time arrives, He will act. Because God remembers. And because He remembers, His children can wait with hope rather than despair.
