Primary Text: Psalm 105:13–15
“He allowed no one to oppress them… saying, ‘Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.'”
Have you ever heard someone say, “Don’t question him.He is the anointed.” Or perhaps you’ve thought, “I’m just an ordinary church member. I’m not anointed like the pastor.”
Many sincere Christians feel spiritually inferior. They admire pastors. They respect evangelists.They honour teachers. All of which is good. But somewhere along the way, many have concluded that only a few people are truly “anointed.” Is that what the Bible teaches? Today, let us discover a wonderful truth. If you belong to Christ…You are also anointed.
God Has No Second-Class Children
When God spoke in Psalm 105, He referred to His covenant people as”My anointed.” They were not all prophets.They were not all priests.They were God’s people. God’s protection rested upon them because they belonged to Him. Our identity begins not with a title. It begins with our relationship to God.
Christ Shares His Life With His People
The word “Christ” means “the Anointed One.” When we are united to Christ by faith, we share in His life.The Apostle John writes in 1 John 2:20: “But you have been anointed by the Holy One…” Notice he is writing to believers generally, not only to church leaders. Every Christian has received the Holy Spirit. Every Christian belongs to Christ. Every Christian is called to serve.
Different Roles… Equal Value
Does this mean pastors and elders have no special responsibilities? No. God appoints shepherds to teach, guide, and care for His church. Paul speaks of pastors, teachers, evangelists, and other gifts given to equip the saints. But different responsibilities do not mean different worth.The eye is not more valuable than the hand.The pastor is not more loved by God than the faithful widow who quietly prays.The evangelist is not closer to Christ than the young believer who faithfully obeys Him. At the foot of the cross, we all stand on equal ground.
Beware of Idolizing Men
The Bible tells us to honor faithful leaders. It never tells us to worship them. Paul himself wrote,”Follow me, as I follow Christ.” Notice the standard. Christ remained the focus. Whenever our admiration for a human leader becomes greater than our devotion to Christ, something has gone wrong. No pastor died for your sins. No prophet rose again for your salvation. Only Jesus Christ deserves our ultimate allegiance.
Your Calling Matters
Perhaps you never stand behind a pulpit. Perhaps you never preach a sermon. Perhaps your ministry is raising children, teaching in a classroom, farming, running a business, encouraging the lonely, or quietly praying. Do not think your service is insignificant. God anoints His people for the work He has called them to do. Faithfulness, not fame, is God’s measure of greatness.
Practical Christian Response
As believers: Respect and pray for your church leaders.
Learn from faithful teachers.
Do not place any human being where only Christ belongs.
Remember that the Holy Spirit lives in every believer.
Serve God confidently in the calling He has given you.
Never say, “I am just an ordinary Christian.” There are ordinary occupations.There are no ordinary children of God.
Reflection
The enemy would like nothing more than for believers to live beneath their identity. He whispers,”You are insignificant.”” You have nothing to offer.”” You are not spiritual enough.” But God’s Word declares something different.
If you belong to Christ, you have been adopted into God’s family. You have received His Spirit. You have been gifted for His service.You have been called to represent Christ in the world.That is not the privilege of a few. It is the inheritance of every believer.

Closing Thought
The church should never become a place where a few are exalted and the many feel forgotten.
Yes, honor those who faithfully lead.
Yes, respect those whom God has entrusted with responsibility.
But never forget this glorious truth: The same Holy Spirit who empowers the preacher…Lives in the faithful believer.
The same God who calls the missionary…Calls the mother raising her children in His fear.
The same Christ who strengthens the evangelist…Strengthens the Christian quietly serving Him each day.
So stand with humility. Serve with confidence. Love with sincerity. And remember: You are not less.You also are anointed—not because of a title, but because you belong to Christ, the Anointed One.
